Description
The S.R.I Dholki is an indispensible instrument in the South Indian Bhajan also known as Nama Sankeertanam. It has a fiberglass body with synthetic drum heads. The right side head is high pitched and produces a sharp, cutting, metallic tone. There are 16 tuning screws that can be used to adjust the pitch of the instrument to the desired level. Tuning can be accomplished with the help of a spanner supplied with the instrument.
The left head which is much larger than the right head produces a base pitch that compliments the high pitch of the right head. The left head can also be tuned to a specific pitch within its range. It has
12 tuning screws.
The Dholki is provided with hooks to attach shoulder straps which will be useful while walking
and playing the instrument during street bhajans.
